Handling Solar Fire Files
By Hank Friedman

I was recently asked two questions:

1. How do I merge Solar Fire files?

and

2. How do I remove duplicate entries in a Solar Fire file?

Here are the methods:

Merging Solar Fire Chart Files

Step one: Run Solar Fire and open the chart file you wish to merge another file into.

Click on Chart --> Open:

Step Two:

If the chart file that you want to merge another file into is already selected, proceed to step three.

Otherwise, click on File (upper left) and click on and select the file that you want another file merged into.

Step Three: Click on File (upper left) and choose the file you want to merge with the already selected chart file, and then click on the Merge button (green arrow).

Step Four: The Merge Utility window will now appear. Highlight the chart file or files that you want to merge with your base file and click on the Merge button.

(Trick: if you want to select consecutive files to merge, hold down the shift key as you choose them. If you want to select non-adjacent files to merge, hold down the control (Ctrl) key and choose the ones that you want to merge.)

That's it!

Removing Duplicate Charts in a Solar Fire Chart File

Sometimes a chart file will have duplicate entries, whether because of merging files or for some other reason, and you want to remove the duplicate entries.

Step one: Run Solar Fire and open the chart file screen:

Click on Chart --> Open:

Step two: If the chart file that you want to remove duplicates from is already selected, proceed to step three.

Otherwise, click on File (upper left) and click on and select the file that you want remove duplicates from.

Step three: Click on Delete and then on Duplicate Charts.

Done!
